Avocado tips…

My top avocado tips:

  1. Shoppers tend to squeeze and manhandle avocados in stores, damaging and bruising them. Rather buy hard avocados and ripen at home, by wrapping with a newspaper.
  2. Once ripened, and there are no plans for immediate use, then you can slow further ripening by storing them in the fridge.
  3. Rather than tossing out an overripe or bruised avocado, I make guacamole, avocado salad dressing, soup or pasta sauce. I save the perfect fleshed avocados for salads.
  4. Save the pips and try to grow your own avocado tree
  5. It is easier to scoop the avocado flesh out of its shell with a tablespoon
  6. Avocado is great friends with lime, lemon, salt, pepper, paprika, minced garlic, chopped chives, fresh coriander, spring onion so mix and match and see what works for you
